[in all fairness, stahn doesn't know how to play either. so even as he's sitting down at one of the stools, he's looking at the attendant with a bit of a puzzled look.
fortunately for them both, it's standard procedure to explain how it works to newcomers sitting down. there's no much to it—all they have to do is aim the water gun at the target in the duck's feet, spraying water until the electronic score-keep reaches the top.]
Ahh... okay, I get it! That seems easy enough. [which just means he's looking to leon with a grin.] Ready?
[Somehow... somehow here he is, playing a game at a festival, and Leon has no idea how he got here. But he gets the instructions, and he's determined to not lose, so he fiercely focuses on the game itself.
It's on, Stahn.
He just nods shortly at that.]
Of course I am.
[He was born ready
(No he wasn't, but he sure is competitive enough for this.)]
it's not like stahn will intentionally lose to leon—he's too competitive for that. but even if stahn loses, he'll still be happy because he got leon to partake in something that is silly and fun.]
Let's go, then!
[it's probably one of the best possible outcomes he could have hoped for. maybe, just maybe... leon will have a little fun? not that he'll admit it, of course. stahn knows that, but if leon has even a little bit of fun that he can discern, it'll be the best.
stahn gets into a ready position, holding the water pistol with two hands and trying to see if he'll be able to line up the shot.
"AND GO!!" the attendant will call out after a moment and ring a bell to signify the start of the game, to which stahn is immediately pulling the trigger.]
[For his part, Leon will 100% be trying to win, naturally. Stahn riled him up. Now he has to win. (Whether he'll be able to or not is another matter entirely.) He's not Chelsea or Woodrow--ranged combat is entirely foreign to him aside from a friendly demon lance or two, so though he's really honestly trying hard he's... only doing mediocre here.
It's also foreign to Leon to not be doing something he's good at, generally speaking, so it makes his brow furrow and his expression shift into a frown and
Yeah he's totally going to pout if he gets a bad score.
[it's not like stahn is much better at things like this—he's always the one to run in with swordian a-blazin', up in the enemy's face. ranged fighting isn't his style, so his experience in this kind of game is limited.
but unlike leon, stahn knows how to actually fun, so he does things like go to the arcade sometimes—like temporal catastrophe and residence of the undead. so he has a little experience, even if he's still not very good by most people's standards.
(at least the attendant is amused, right?)
it's not long before the winning alarm goes off, with bright lights on stahn's terminal flashing.
Leon's obviously a sore loser because he's Leon; he sucks at being a normal, well-adjusted human being at any time, much less when he's lost at something. (He was trying really hard, too, but now he wants to pretend like he wasn't to try to save his pride.)
He turns away on the seat, sighing, crossing his arms as Stahn celebrates.
Did he have fun...? Maybe, in the midst of everything. It's honestly hard for him to tell a lot of the time, and he's back to being sour now.]
[stahn's still having a moment, and while the attendant is handing stahn his prize—the poop emoji pillow—he's the one who makes the comment.
"It looks like someone's a sore loser, isn't that so?"
...which draws stahn's attention.]
—Eh? [he looks to leon... who is now turned away and probably pouting. and maybe leon is a sore loser, but come on, attendant guy, that's rude.]
Ahaha... well, we just get into it when we compete! That's all, he's fine. [but he does cant his head to the side a bit and give the attendant a look that's meant to say not to press the issue any further.]
[You can't have possibly expected anything else... Leon's going to cut his losses while he still can and try to save them both some heartache here. He knows Stahn would feel bad if he won now--and also Leon would feel pretty bad if Stahn kept beating him and nobody wants that.]
Go play games with someone else--I am not interested.
[leon absolutely isn't wrong to try and cut their losses...
but when has stahn ever been quick to concede when leon reacts that way?]
Leon! Come on, Leon!! [he doesn't want to play games with other people right now. he wants to with leon! that's why they're here together... to have fun...]
If you weren't going to be doing anything else, then it's not wasting time. It's okay to do things for yourself sometimes, Leon...
[he can't help but utter with a small sigh. every attempt to do something a little less stressful and focused on getting out of cerealia ends up like this, so it's just getting harder for stahn to sweep it under the rug.
leon may not know how to have fun, but all the same, it seems like he refuses to even let himself try.]
Let's just... see what else is here. There's more than just the games and food, I think... Everyone worked really hard, so I want to see as much as we can.
[It's hard to argue that he has anywhere else to be, since...well, he doesn't. Instead, he just sighs, crossing his arms vaguely, and nods after a long moment. No more games is a good start, and even if he's still feeling rather sulky from the last, he supposes he can come along with Stahn.
It does seem to mean a lot to him, for some reason.]
...Hmph. If I was doing this for myself, I would not be here at all. [Then who are you here for, Leon.............. do you even realize how that sounds.]
Regardless--just do what you want. I suppose we may as well stay for a short period of time longer, though I do not intend to stay any longer than that.
[if it helps, stahn doesn't really quite catch how that sounds either. he just takes it as what he thinks it to be—that leon really only came along because stahn didn't give him a choice. nothing about leon's actual wants or the fact that it does make stahn pretty happy to have the company.]
I don't know what else is here, so we'll just have to walk around a bit more. If there isn't anything else, then we can go.
[though they'll miss the fireworks that way, huh...]
[...... well. At least he got that acknowledgement from Stahn, at least.
If they don't find anything else, then they can leave, and that's a relief. He's pretty ready to go--even aside from his general dislike of this sort of thing, he's getting pretty exhausted from the crowd (and his own sour mood, let's be real here).
[it's... a step forward, kind of. he doesn't mind leaving once he's seen everything, but he really wanted for leon to enjoy himself and have a better time.]
Hey, Leon? [so of course, he's going to bring it up.] Has it really been that bad?
[stahn tilts his head a little; sometimes leon's words betray him. sometimes they contradict each other and it leaves stahn... not entirely sure what to think.
it seems like he doesn't hate it as much as he claimed, but he also doesn't seem to be enjoying it, either.]
Right... I thought maybe there'd be something here you could have fun with. [maybe he thought wrong? he really did just want to share the experience with leon because it seemed like it would be fun.]

TIME TO GO, LEON'S SULKING.]
... Let's go.
[At least he's not just...stalking off in a huff alone??? Look at the bright side.]
no subject
We should try another one! There are so many types of games here... [there has to be one leon can win fair and square.
(only stahn would feel bad for winning just because leon is sulking like a child.)]

Don't make me repeat myself. I am not playing any other games.
no subject
[he's chasing after leon with the emoji pillow clutched in his arms, which has to look positively ridiculous.]
It's supposed to be for fun! [stop being an angry salt mine.... :(]
no subject
Absolutely not! If you intend to remain here and waste your time, then do so, but I'm finished with it.
no subject
[this totally not a festival date is not being brought to an end so easily.]
no subject
We are not playing any more games here!
[Take it or leave it.....]
no subject
Okay, but let's find something else, then! [—he really just doesn't want leon to leave.]
no subject
If it is going to continue to waste my time like everything else, I'm not interested.

... Fine.

It isn't as though it wasn't anything I could not handle, naturally.

... I am not interested in this sort of celebration in the least.
